The Poetic MC: ClrConscience

When I first met ClrConscience at a mental health panel for the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where we both were panelist, all I could do was stare in amazement. It was something about the way he spoke and his energy that made me want to talk to him more. At the end of the panel we all exchanged either business cards or social media handles and I have been following his growth ever since. I have downloaded his debut project; which I will talk about more later, and send positive vibes his way anytime I have the chance.

ClrConscience is an emcee and poet from the DMV area (Baltimore to be exact). While he’s always had an passion for poetry and hip-hop, it wasn’t until his first year of college where he made the decision to pursue his music career. Inspired by his personal life experiences, Clr aims to fill the atmosphere with art that offers unapologetic truths and positive vibrations. He has been inspired by artists such as J. Cole, Wale, Andree 3000, Tupac, Nas, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill. After releasing his debut project this past Spring entitled “Strictly 4 My Negus;” he is already gearing up to release a collective project with his newly formed band/music group this Fall.

Clr Conscience’s journey to music wasn’t smooth at all. He didn’t fully take his music career serious until he was about 18 or 19. Music was always a passion he had though. As a child he wanted to join the school band in elementary/middle but there was a fee to enter, most likely for the purchase of the instrument, his parents weren’t willing to do that at the time. So his childhood dream had to be put on the back-burner. He pursued many career ideas such as lawyer, engineer, and journalist. He is now going to school to be a counselor/therapist, while working full time on his music career.

Upcoming Events: Break Free Sounds (a label/collective started by Ayiana Maria and ClrConscience) and Lpb Enterprises came together to put on a monthly event called “The Cleansing” every third Friday of the month. They are collaborating with an artist by the name of New Vision from Baltimore for their next show on September 21st, and the details are in the FLYER BELOW!
