The Pros and Cons of Social Media!

Just like any platform, service or product there are pros and cons. Social media is no different. There is a right way and a wrong way to use social media. You will have good days and you will have bad days. You will use social media for fun and entertainment or you will use it for business purposes, or possibly both, Whatever ways you decide to use social media is up to you. Let’s go over some pros and cons of social media to get you started. I will start off with the pros.

Pros:

  • Connect with friends/family
  • Memories
  • Birthday/ Celebrations
  • Stay updated with events/buy tickets
  • Business/networking/sale/marketing
  • News (don’t have access to television or always want to watch)

Cons:

  • Drama/arguments
  • Distractions/misunderstandings
  • Takes up too much time
  • Causes us to be less social (in person)
  • False stories or news reports

Social media can be a beautiful thing when being used properly. There is actually more pros than cons to social media, but the cons are more acknowledged because the bad is always viewed more. That is with any situation. Not just social media. Plus, there will be situations out of your control. That’s life!

Do not let anybody discourage the way you interact and connect with the world. The way other people use social media or the problems they have will not always be yours. Your friends are not the same. Your purpose for using social media is not the same. If you use social media properly your pros will always out weigh the cons. And if you don’t focus on the negative you won’t have a negative experience.

What are some more pros and cons you can think of? Leave them in the comment section.
