Ever since I was younger I’ve always heard that good things come to those who wait. I’ve heard this told a lot to women who are single, people in between jobs and the list goes on. So, now I’m sitting asking myself…do good things really come to those who wait? Let’s think about this for a second. The statement itself is telling people to wait, be patient and good things will come. While this can be true, the statement DOESN’T say to sit still, not work towards your goals or just think things will come. GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO DON’T WAIT…GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WORK TOWARDS THEIR GOALS…GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO MOVE!! These would be more accurate statements.
To tell people that good things come to those who wait is giving them the impression that they don’t have to work towards those good things. It’s giving them the impression that these things will magically come to them without them having to put in work. We all know this is not true and is impossible. WE get NOTHING in this world without first working for it. We can pray, put things into the universe and do all the spiritual work we can do…but unless we are actually actively working towards the things we want…we GOING BE WAITING FOREVER and that’s a FACT!
Some will read this and be like well the statement can be read like this…or that’s not what it actually means. I know the many interpretations, and I am aware of how this statement comes off. I have also seen the effects of people reading this statement and actually “waiting” for these good thing to come out the sky, like a magic trick! So as much as people believe this statement doesn’t need explanation…it very much does. Remember that:
- YOU have to work for everything you want.
- Good things come to those who WORK FOR THEM
- And prayer without WORK is DEAD!
